Information about compression stockings you must know!
Many people experience swelling and soreness in their legs after standing or working for a long time. Maybe some people don't know how to alleviate this situation, and maybe some people have heard of compression stockings(or compression socks), but they still don't know much about the function of compression stockings. Next, we will introduce you some imformation about compression stockings.
What are compression stockings?
Compression stockings squeeze the legs lighter than ordinary socks, and come in various lengths. Its main function is to promote better blood circulation in the legs. Compression stockings come in a variety of sizes, lengths and colors, and compression stockings also have different compression strengths.
Are there risks in wearing compression stockings?
Generally speaking, compression stockings are safe and beneficial as long as you wear them correctly according to the instructions. If the stockings are clustered together on the legs, it is likely to cut off blood circulation (so we do not recommend that you wear compression socks while sleeping). If you have dermatitis or other skin diseases, please consult your doctor before wearing compression stockings for the first time. It is also worth noting that people with pulmonary edema associated with congestive heart failure or arterial insufficiency (arterial disease) should also avoid compression stockings.
Can anyone wear it?
Compression socks are not risky for most people trying on them. Some people may worry that compression stockings will be tighter than ordinary socks, which will cause strangulation marks on the legs, or even worry that the compression of compression stockings will cause blood circulation to be cut off. In fact, this is not the case. For most people, except those with severely reduced heart function or severe peripheral arterial disease (the blood flow between their legs and the heart is poor), other people can wear compression stockings.
How long should I wear compression stockings?
If you are exercising, such as running, during this period, you can wear it for 3 to 4 hours during and after running. If your job requires you to stand for a whole day or most of the working day (such as nurses, teachers), then you need to wear compression stockings before going to work, which is equivalent to wearing about 12 hours. Compression stockings can be worn for a day, but remember to take them off and wash them before going to bed.
